Posted on: How Far?
November 2, 2015 at 9:45 PMAt one point in this lesson something is said about a gesture that sometimes accompanies the character 十. I wish ithad been described briefly in words. I listen to ChinesePod lessons while walking from place to place and don't know what's happening in the videos.
Thanks for all your work in creating these lessons! I enjoy them and find them helpful. Like judycarruth, I'd like to have the dialogue repeated three times, and I also wouldn't mind if there were a little less discussion in English. Each individual bit of explanation or banter is good on its own, but when there's a lot of it, the cumulative effect is to makethe lesson less dense and less useful. I don't want to criticize any of the ChinesePod presenters, who all do an excellent job, but I think John with Jenny or Dilu was the ideal here: a light tone, helpful tips in English, but never a wasted minute. Their lessons were every bit as fun and informative, and you could listen to 3 lessons (or the same one 3 times) for every 2 of the newer ones.

May 2, 2016 at 3:35 PMCan the sentence "因为英国有一点远" from the dialogue be rephrased as "因为英国一点远" (without 有)? Would that be ungrammatical, more or less equivalent, or a possible sentence with a different meaning?
Am I right that you could say "因为英国太远了" (similar to the sentence about Thailand being too hot later on) or "因为英国很远" without the character 有? Would it be possible to put in a 有 before the 太+adjective+了 or 很+adjective constructions in these examples?
Thanks for your help and for all the excellent lessons! Like many others here, I think you're doing a fantastic job, and I agree that the new app is a pleasure to use.
