When I lived in Chicago, corkage was really common, since the process of obtaining a liquor license was tedious and political. It's also a good way to drink wine with dinner without paying the huge markup most restaurants charge.

I'm pretty excited about these lessons, too. I have to de business with people from Shanghai and Ningbo, and this kind of instruction is difficult to find. I hope these will continue.

I've noticed that the more fast fluid and less broken  my Chinese speaking has become, the less people try to speak to me in only English. Westerners are used to meeting English speaking people all over the world, so it's easy to not be impressed by someone who can speak it, and it's easy to forget that many of these people have worked just as hard to learn English as we have Chinese.

They also don't seem the least bit insulted if I say: "你英语讲得很好,英文一定对你来说很难学习的。“
