I've noticed that the more fast fluid and less broken  my Chinese speaking has become, the less people try to speak to me in only English. Westerners are used to meeting English speaking people all over the world, so it's easy to not be impressed by someone who can speak it， and it's easy to forget that many of these people have worked just as hard to learn English as we have Chinese.

They also don't seem the least bit insulted if I say: "你英语讲得很好，英文一定对你来说很难学习的。“
