I've seen this word 与 （與）yǔ used a lot but I have no clue how to use it nor do I know the definition。Can you give me some examples how to use it？

Thank you JasonSch for the reply. But I'm still a bit unclear on the proper usage as I've seen it used in from ways. However, is this more 书面 than 口语？ Can you also give me other examples？

How do I use 当时？ I thought it meant “back then” or “at that time”。Can someone explain to me the various usages？  

当时吓死我了！有车就了不起吗？开车不长眼睛！ 
       (You scared me to death! You're so great because you have a car, huh? You weren't even watching the road!)
