I'm shocked at how different shanghai dialect than mandarin!! Shanghainese sounds more like French or Japanese than in does Mandarin!

Thank you both for you answers! Now what I'm wondering is, what had Chinese people been using before using disposable style ( perhaps western?) diapers? Can either of you put up a link of a "Chinese-style reusable diaper" ?

no no , what I mean is, why did you Chinesepod (or whoever) translate " 尿不湿" as "disposable diaper"? Why translate it that way?

thanks Connie! Do you happen to know why 尿不湿 is called "disposable diaper" , instead of something like "non-wet diaper" ? Does anyone know?

thanks Tal. Another question I have is, why is 尿不湿translated as "disposable diapers"? Aren't all diapers disposable?

And just to be a hundred percent sure（because 尿不湿 isn't in any of the dictionaries I've checked), 尿不湿 is a noun, right? It's not some kind of weird Chinese chunk phrase or anything , is it? Can people say 我要去买尿不湿？

is the last supplementary vocab word supposed to be 尿布湿 ? If not, why are disposable diapers called 尿不湿？
