Fortunately my Chinese skills have advanced to the point where I never have to be concerned about finding tampons. This is one of the few cases where you don't want to resort to a long description of the function of what you're looking for, having realized you don't know what it's called in Chinese. “对不起。。。我在找一个女人的东西。。。又长又干又白色的。。。" but I guess this could be a fun guessing game!
