November 30, 2009 at 12:17 AMNot to split hairs, *ahem*, but my sources tell me that the etymology of 毛片儿 comes more from the fact that overdubbed 3rd or 4th generation (and of course 非法) tapes would tend to look "fuzzy" or "hairy". Without breeching the PG-13 level of these posts, can anyone else confirm this?
