in the expansion sentences 照片 is marked as zhao4pian1 (instead of zhao4pian4)...is it because it is followed by 儿？

this is not a big deal but my two Chinese teachers (north east China) keep correcting me when I say that I am learning 中文 and I should be using 汉语 instead?

for example:
