yeah, I've been searching for a resource that would teach about the various Chinese accents too. I would also be really interesting in learning about regional word usage differences

don't worry, you're not missing out on much. I visited it and didn't think much of it at all .

Chinesepod's website is very cool, but its facebook page is nothing more than a marketing tool.

there's no such thing as "not having an accent". Everyone has to have some sort of accent. Americans have various American accents, Brits have various British accents, Aussies have Australian accents, and so on. The same applies to all languages.

There are also two other things that I'm unclear about. The first is, why isn't there a 吗 after "你们是今天搬来的” ？

The second is, at the end of the dialog, why does the guy who just moved in say " ...欢迎你来我家” , instead of saying 我们家 ？

If that's true, which it very well may be, it doesn't make sense.

When people move out of an apartment, the place will obviously need fresh paint, carpet ( if there's carpet) , cleaning, etc, but other than that, I don't see how they can regard apartments as being "used", in the same way as cars. Used cars have mileage on them , which means they won't last as long as a brand new car.
