No， his career is over。 It was a good run while it lasted。 I don't his body was built for an 82＋ season。If he does come back， he'll probably get traded to a contender， who needs a back－up center for 10－15mins／game。 Let's just hope for China's sake，there'll be another good player，who's equal or better。I still admire him for what he did for Chinese basketball and Asians all around the world。

Great post. Wow, you ask really thought provoking questions. I have also wondered about this topic before.

I think the government just classified people according to their culture and paternal links--please correct if I'm wrong. Clearly seeing a physical difference between Northern Hans and Southern Hans, you have to wonder what is a "Han"? Martin Jacques, a Guardian columnist and author of When China Rules the World, has stated, the Chinese people or in his words the Hans, see themselves as a civilization not a race.

The ancient kingdom of 越 yue，encompassing parts of what is now 广东province and Vietnam，was absorbed by the 汉dynasty and by the 汉 people。 粤 yue language or Cantonese shares many similarities in phonetics and vocabulary with Vietnamese。 The word 粤 actually comes from the word 越。Even 闽 and 吴 languages have their origins from the yue kingdoms。

I guess the closest example would be in the USA, where the gov't categorizes everybody as white, black, Hispanic, and Asian.

There is an article about the Manchu language from the Wall Street Times. Aside from the Manchu language, the author states some Manchus changed their ethnicity from Manchu to Han due to fear of political backlash.
