This kind of extreme substitution might be appropriate when translating movie subtitles, but it is not appropriate in a language lesson. With movie subtitles, the translator's mission is to help the viewer get the gist and follow the story line without being distracted by linguistic complexities. In a language lesson, the translator needs to help the language learner figure out two things: the meaning of the sentence/conversation, and the meaning of each word/structure.
