July 20, 2011 at 8:27 AMWell, as a Chinese, let me tell you something true.
The pinyin of “想想" in the dictionary is marked as “xiǎngxiang”, that's correct. But the first xiang3 should be read as xiang2. You may surprise, "Why?" Because when double 3rd tones meet together, the first 3rd tone should be converted to 2nd tone.
Originally, “想想" should be xiǎngxiǎng, but when in dialogue, it often read as "xiang2 xiang". And remember, the pinyin of "想想" must still be written as what the dictionary edits, that is, xiang3 xiang.
I hope you understand what I mean. Good luck!

July 20, 2011 at 3:07 AM“佩服”是respect的意思,但在对话中,不能直接翻译为respect;课文里的用法应该为一个感叹(exclamation),相当于“你真厉害啊,真了不起!(You are so knowledgeable!)”的意思,表达一种敬佩之情(a sense of respect)。如:
A:你知道吗,中国有五千年的历史呢,我最喜欢三国的历史人物了,他们有好多故事呢。
B:真的吗,你懂得好多啊,实在是佩服、佩服!
现在懂了吗?Good luck!

July 19, 2011 at 3:42 PMAs a matter of fact, we Chinese often say mao2 pian1 er(毛片儿), kan4 pian1 er(看片儿)
Although it may not correct according to some so-called rules, no one actually means it.
只要您学中文不是为了考试~
也许我的观点不是很主流,可是其实我们中国人说话发音有的都不太准~
So, you know, good luck!
