Can high maintenance possibly be interpreted as 高消费 (high spending)? I'm a native Chinese speaker in Malaysia and we have a colloquial saying for high maintenance girls, 贵养. Literally translated, it means "expensive to feed". I'm not sure to what extent this is applicable to Chinese speakers elsewhere, but 对我来说很有意思。
