i think it depends where you live in China, the same as how it seems to vary how you greet someone. half the time the vocab in these lessons is completely different to what people say in Wuhan, andwhen i visit Beijing it sounds like i'm listening to a ChinesePod podcast.

I chose a real chinese name because i got fed up being introduced as Mr Semen.  Now people are confused because my Chinese name sounds nothing like Simon.

it's interesting comparing the new lessons to the older ones.  i only joined 5 months back so i've been slowly working my way backwards as well as keeping up with the new ones.  in the older lessons the hosts appear to just chat about anything that comes into their head and there is no structure, it's very difficult following what is going on.  as time goes on it seems they begin to get a feel for what works best and the lessons are far more helpful.  just an opinion of someone who joined the party a little late.
