Thankyou xiaophil and tal for your help. I have thought about it a little more, and it makes a lot more sense to me if I slip a comma in like this:
等会儿, 到我办公室来一下
To make sense though I still need to think of 等会儿 as 'wait a moment', not 'for a moment'. I don't think I read the English translation right. I thought it said 'come into my office for a bit' instead of 'in a bit'. With the comma I now read it as 'Wait a bit, (then) come to my office'.
Does it make more or less sense to you guys this way?

I am struggling with the first line. 等会儿 I assume is the same as 等一会儿 meaning wait a moment (if you can leave the 一 out like this, why would you ever bother to put it in?). But then it is followed by 到我办公室. How can you 'wait a moment' towards something? And then its finished with 来 一下, again indicating 'a moment'. And the whole thing is supposed to mean 'come into my office in a bit'. Could someone help me out here?

October 17, 2009 at 2:04 AMOK, I can accept all that. Lastly is the tone on 会 right or wrong? Does 儿 change its tone? Or is it just a one-off aberration?
