I just attended a Chinese-American funeral yesterday in California, USA. Candy was handed out after the service. Is this also called 喜糖 ?

October 1, 2008 at 6:27 AMThanks, Amber!
The kid is so happy, I can't quite bring myself to send him off every day with 别贪玩. However, I'm very happy to tuck this away in my back pocket, because I suspect I will need it some day. : )
BTW, You guys are doing a fabulous job. I LOVE Qing Wen!

September 24, 2008 at 11:05 PMFrom Muzzy I learned to say:
You3 ge tong4 kuai qing ai4 de
So I say this to my son everyday as I send him off to school. Is this not an approximate way to say "Have a nice day" ?

September 6, 2008 at 3:02 AMI use the term "chong1 shui3" to remind my son to flush the toilet. Can it really be the same term to rinse hair?!

July 9, 2008 at 2:45 PMThank you, this lesson was "ku4 bi4"!
What if the sound check is faulty? How to say, it needs fixing or adjusting? Can you say "bu2 yong4 le" or "sheng1 yin1 huai4 le"? or is there a more natural way to say it?
And, if you do fix it, how can you crow "I fixed it!"?

Posted on: Skincare: Sunscreen
September 26, 2007 at 4:40 AMApplying sunscreen is a daily event in our household. Because of this lesson and the comment sections I can now say to my toddler "I want to apply sunscreen to your face". But how do I say "Hold still - stop wiggling!" ?
