What about refrigerators? Are they small ones, as in Europe, or are they completely omitted on the assumption that you'll buy your fresh food daily?

I have a Zojirushi rice cooker, a very simple one, that is the light of my life. Dunno what I ever did without one. I suspect it uses a lot fewer resources than turning on a burner, plus it does its thing without me having to worry about it.

I thought that saying 你在干吗? was less rude than just saying 干吗?

Can I just say that Web 2.0 is the most marvelous thing, because Lunetta found me over there in, like, 30 seconds. :-D C'mon out, you other Ravelers...

I'm so excited! I'm a constant, obsessive knitter (I'm rhubarb3point14 on Ravelry, you other knitters ;-)), so when I saw this lesson, it was like my two biggest hobbies merging at long last. I shouted out to my husband, "There's a ChinesePod lesson about knitting!" He responded, "There's a rift in the space-time continuum!"

Late to the party--I was too busy with the holiday to get to the lesson on time! As a person who raises 火鸡, I would like to help dispel the idea that they are comparatively tasteless birds! I wish I could send the people of China a few of our heirloom Bourbon Red turkeys for sampling. Mmmmmmm. Unfortunately, we don't have any extras because right before Thanksgiving, a 熊 smashed into our turkey pens and mauled a lot of the poor 火鸡. That was a very unhappy morning. We were lucky we could save a "scratch and dent" bird for the holiday!

远足 yuan3zu2, huh? I'll try it out. Thanks! The area is hilly, but I don't think it counts as a 山. ;-)

This is a perfect lesson for me! My Chinese tutor is also my hiking partner. Before, I only knew 散步. Now, I actually have the vocab.

alwingate, for what it's worth, the expansion exercises really help me to start to get up to normal conversational speed. The way I do them is, I mouse over the sentence slowly, word by word, and pronounce it. Then I use the recording to check my pronunciation. Sometimes it takes several times through to bring my version in line with Cpod's, but I get there! Often I will stop and look up characters in my dictionaries and reference books. What I learn helps me remember the words better. This part of the lesson is definitely way more tedious than the rest, but I'd say it helps me the most because I really have to work for it.
