August 2, 2014 at 6:13 PMSorry, but my Chinese isn't good enough to get all of David's explanation of 乖 guai1 and males. As a grown man, do I sound lame if I use it when talking about little children? or just when talking about other adults? I ask because I've often complimented a Chinese grandmother on how 乖 guai1 her well-behaved 3 yr old grandson is. Should I avoid it completely?

July 29, 2014 at 12:20 PMOh no, I can't hold it in any longer! My question, that is.What's the sound effect at the start, the violent liquid shaking?
A) Extreme abdominal distress.
B) An experienced mum preparing the kai1se4lu4 enema in advance.
I'm intrigued.

June 22, 2014 at 11:58 PMIt's an advert for Yingli, a solar energy company.
I think it says
光伏入户 中国+英利
guang1fu2ru4hu4 zhong1guo2+ying1li4
"Photovoltaic into your home. China + Yingli".(Roughly?)
BTW I know most Americans don't care, but just watched USA almost beat Portugal. It took the best player in the world (?), Ronaldo, to set up an equaliser for Portugal in the last 20 secs! Magnificent match! Well done USA!.

June 16, 2014 at 11:29 PMHelp! Can't concentrate on the football because I'm trying to read the Chinese ads on the side of the pitch. Seems to be two which appear briefly every few minutes as the as the hoardings cycle. Both are four characters (sorry I can't type Chinese on this computer):
1) zhong1 guo2 + ying1 ?
China + English ?
2) ? ? ru4 hu4
? ? enter household
Please someone read them! Thanks!
