A question about how to ask for the correct tones -
When writing to someone, I want to ask how to pronounce their name using the proper tones. What is the proper idiom/phrase for this ? Does this vary by region, or will this question in Mandarin also be the same in Shanghai or Guangzhou ?
Second, when in person I'd like to ask for the correct tone if I think I mis-heard it. Is there a common vocal courtesy phrase for this (in the US, we might say, "I missed that," for example).
