I know approximately 8 thousand words and 5-6 thousand traditional characters, yet it's still not even close to being fluent in Chinese. The more you study, the bigger the numbers of "vital vocabulary" an "vital characters" get.

They did it for a reason, trust me, they have access to statistics and lots of resources that are justification of all their business decisions. The number of people writing under lessons is just a small fraction of all the uses. I guess people who were complaining were complaining directly to them, rather than writing on the website.

There must have been rise in subscriptions after they started to cut the lessons, otherwise they simple wouldn't have done it.

In Taiwan the vast majority of businesses are working normally, despite dragon boat festival. I guess in China, where people work even harder, most of internet businesses are working normally.

They havent updated their facebook, nobody answers here, I would recommend backing up all the materials from the website, just in case. Plus, no new lesson has been uploaded in 2 days. Something is going on and I hope it will be resolved soon.

Relax, they are probably dealing with it somehow. Operating in China, where Internet is very "specific" makes things much more difficult and unpredictable. Hope Chinesepod would try to move their operations to Taiwan slowly, where costs would be the same and government is much more predictable.

The shorter, simpler lessons on higher levels are probably just a reaction to all the complaints and requests sent by the users. Most of the users were happy with the previous way of doing things and said nothing, unfortunately the dissatisfied minority is usually the part which is heard the most.

Instead of working harder to cope with more difficult lessons, people want easier and shorter lessons, so that they could full themselves that they are doing insane progress.
