This question is for Jenny or whoever speaks Mandarin fluently/natively,

So I understand that nǎlǐ is used in southern China and nǎr is more for northern China but if I said the latter in Shanghai, would people laugh at me or think it's awkward? Conversely, if I said the former in Beijing, would northerners find it funny or out of place? Thanks.
