I did appreciate bp's "bu & mei" contraindicating "le" rule.

December 7, 2007 at 7:37 PMCP I just looked up 幽默. Both characters seem to mean 'silent' or 'quiet' on their own. Seems like an odd combo to pick for transliterating 'funny'! Is there really no Chinese word that means 'funny'? Is it humorous in China to be quiet?
