The two sentences are both commonly used in conversation. I think they are both correct and make sense. But if you would like to put them on paper, the first one sounds more formal.

If you put the two words together, "fāsòng", it still mean send. But if you want to say "send email" in Chinese, you will need to use the verb "fā" , "fā yóujiàn".

"sòng " can be used in phrase like "sòng lǐwù", which means give present to someone. If you know the character "sòng" (送), you will notice the radical "辶" means walking, so "sòng" can also mean "see off".
