Posted on: Have you bought your Shanghai Expo ticket?

I'd love to throw a question out to the group about the Expo and see what you think.

I've studied Chinese for two years, and my class is headed on a two week tour, which will include the Expo.

I've actually visited many of the places on the tour.  The Expo itself will be one of the few sights I haven't seen.

So I'm debating the merits of the trip.

What is everyone so excited about?  I must admit that I don't know what to expect.  I've been to World Fairs before (Vancouver was my last one) and I'm wondering what's going to be the main draw in 上海。

Please, someone help talk me into making the trip.

You're absolutely right, John. My first time in a Beijing nightclub, I was invited to sing 卡拉OK. I stood in front of the group, Western style, and tried to work the room. Only later, when everyone else sang sitting down and facing the screen, did I realize what a clown I'd made of myself.

Yeah， I caught that one, also. It's funny because I often double check my translation to make sure it's exactly like the one on the lesson. I check it to the point where I'm debating over the use of 'could' vs. 'can'. Well, it goes to show, with language, there is no point splitting hairs.
