reigau, you are right ! Context is often or always the key. But, reading two consecutive "了" in a sentence is always disturbing (sorry, I have no example in my mind at the moment, but I remember being frightened in such kind of confusion when reading ...).

Anyway, I thank you so much for your contribution on "zombie" transcript lesson. Sometimes, I do not catch some parts of what is saying Zhenny, although it is as useful as the dialog. Perhaps because I am not a real "Intermediate" learner so your work is very helpfull at least for me and I would like to find it (or pay for it ?) more often on chinesepod.

This lesson is great, although actors were speaking very fast because they were all in hurry or nervous (thanks for Jenny, she repeated sentences nicely and clearly, so I could understand everything).

It seems to me that there is a third kind of 了,

the one used to emphasize. By instance,

"太好了" from my point of view is neither a complete action nor a change of state. It is just "marvellous !" ("Super !" in french), so a way, to emphasize something.

What is your opinion about this ?

Beside this point, I agree with huasen

There is two problems with 了 :

- when to put it (you treat it in this lesson)

and

- WHERE to put it in the sentence (just after the verb or at the end of the sentence ... or somewhere else ?)

In grammar exercise I did, I was always confused about the second point and the explanations of my teachers were not really clear. What about a lesson about this also ?

Another problem when reading chinese is to distinguish "le" from "liao". Is there a key to be sure at a glance how to read this character properly ?

Best regards
