February 21, 2011 at 1:23 AMI encountered 班机 in a text book which translated it as "scheduled flight." Here is an example sentence: 有没有从洛杉矶直飞北京的班机？(Is there a direct flight from Los Angeles to Beijing?)
Perhaps in this usage the speaker is referring to the route (flights from LA to Beijing) rather than to a flight at a specific time (Cathay flight number 881 leaving at 1:05AM), but I can't find any definitions in a dictionary that clearly state the difference. Or maybe this word isn't commonly used anymore?

February 8, 2012 at 5:43 PMI have a question about the phrase "醒醒". My wife (whose family is originally from Southern China, 潮州) says you would say this to someone who has fainted. She laughed when I tried to wake her up this way, after she woke up of course! She suggested "起来啦！" or "起床啦！" Is this a regional expression, or a relatively-recent change in usage?
