December 12, 2007 at 4:32 AMThanks 21573... I've never experienced sickness or discomfort from 味精 , but I was just curious to know how vital of an ingredient it is. Would be fun doing a blind taste-test, just to see how noticeable of a flavor enhacer it is...

December 11, 2007 at 4:24 PMFor those living in China: how likely is it to have MSG added to a restaurant dish unless requesting otherwise? Is it more or less prevalent in different regions? Probably over the last 10 years here (USA), many Chinese restaurants started to openly advertise "No MSG" in their windows.

December 10, 2007 at 2:50 AMNo luck downloading this QW, nor the episodes preceeding... no problems with any of the more recent episodes, just the first few. Are the characters in the picture box above traditional? With the small smattering of simplified characters that i know, I was expecting 请问.

November 24, 2007 at 1:37 AMThanks for that link RJ. Rash... For myself, flashcards have mulltiple benefits. Sounding vocab. words out loud allows your ears to get used to hearing the tones, and allows your tongue to get used to saying them. With characters, this is obviuosly a good way to exercise your visual memory. While flashcards (or any other learning method) can't compensate for live dialogue, they can be reviewed on your schedule and will help you prepare for the next live-and-in-person encounter. Finally... I've always felt that the act of making the flashcards (with dictionary peeled open) does as much for etching new vocabulary into my brain as does reviewing them.
