I can barely write English with a pen anymore. No way I'm going to learn to write Chinese!

I don't know why people get hung up on learning to write. You learn to recognize peoples faces every day without being able to draw them. In the computer age being able to write with a pen is a marginally useful skill.

I'm guessing they're just two ways of saying the same thing. I just learned from another lesson that traffic jam referred to as 马路堵 (mǎlù dǔ) but in this lesson it's 堵 (dǔ chē), and someone from near Beijing also said that's better. I really like that they show different ways of saying things. It actually makes the language structure stick better.
