August 25, 2011 at 6:05 PMI notice there's a Nánjīng Xī Lù andNánjīng Lù is referred to as East Nanjing Road sometimes. I take this to mean that West Nanjing Road is either an additional road built later than Nanjing Road, which is the original road to Nanjing, or else West Nanjing Road is an extension to the West of NanjingRoad. Which, if either, is the case? Xièxie. Oh, btw, someone neglected to type a "to" between have & order in the next-to-last expansion.

August 25, 2011 at 5:24 PMThere's little doubt humanity has to learn to live with many differences and I'm all for tolerating them as much as humanly possible, but it seems one of the great things about language is that it can serve to bridge those differences and gaps that can result from prejudice, snobbery, discrimmination, etc. ever since God supposedly destroyed the Tower of Babel and dispersed mankind with differing means of communication that have plagued him ever since. So I'm not sure I want to embrace any more Chinese accents than absolutely unavoidable. And I certainly don't want to go around sounding like a drunk monkey to someone with whom I'm trying to communcate any more than I think you really want to do.

August 25, 2011 at 4:20 PMVery nice lesson and podcast, but perhaps a mention might have been made why the next-to-last line in the dialogue is translated in the past tense? I know why but an Ele might need a reminder.

August 22, 2011 at 5:45 PMThank you for taking the trouble over a seemingly obvious query, but I've learned not to assume unless I'm 200% sure. Even then mistakes can occur. Thanks again.

August 20, 2011 at 5:49 PMThough it doesn't say so, doesn't the 7th exercise in the expansion imply "My characters are written badly" or "I write characters poorly" with 'zì' in the plural here?

August 19, 2011 at 2:09 PMWould "Wànyī shénme yìwài fāshēng le tā, ..." be also ok for the 10th sentence in the expansion?

August 25, 2011 at 7:38 PMIn the 12th expansion sentence I notice the provocative word shēnshang was skipped over a bit in the translation.
