September 6, 2011 at 11:16 PMI hope my comment above isn't taken wrongly. I wouldn't spend so much time criticizing a pedagogical dunce. But it's because I think Chinesepod is so sharp already and can potentially offer more than it has already that I try to encourage you to sharpen your product. Than you will really hit classic status and leave all the journeyman pedagoges in your wake.

We all do in language, even in our morsprak(mother speech) as the Norwegians call it. But if I make a mistake in teaching, or just plain conversing, and I find out about it later on, I always try to go back and correct it if possible. It seems to me, with your organization's rare mistakes standing here so openly transparent on web pages, that you have a wonderful opportunity to correct errors before too many new learners get sidetracked. But I find some mistakes are pointed out but remain uncorrected. Perhaps your organization is too loaded down with work to get to them. Perhaps you need to slow down on turning out new lessons for a while. After all, you now have a huge lesson backlog to fall back on and could give some more time to combing through your files of lessons that go back so far in time. After all, you do want a good product for prosterity since I suppose these lessons will be here virtually forever after we are all gone. People remember the Parthenon or the Mona Lisa because of the perfection of their construction even though now time & war has sadly damaged the former. But cyberspace seems eternal so why put anything in that's obviously deficient and could have been corrected. This is why Sisyphus kept rolling the stone up the hill. It's to keep working to a perfect goal that is nearly as much important as ever actually reaching it.

September 5, 2011 at 12:41 AMTwo points. 1st: In the 17th exercise in the expansion section, instead of 'tóuténgyào' in the box, one finds 'zhǐténgyào' with the translation painkiller for headache medicine. 2nd: Is it possible to say 'Tā dé le lěng' meaning "He got cold" because it was so cold out but not necessarily meaning "He got a cold, i.e., gǎnmào"?

September 4, 2011 at 11:58 PMDoesn't 'zhǎo' mean to try to find or to look for, and 'zhǎodào' mean to find, and, if that is the case, then the 24th expansion could also mean "It's not easy to try to find a job now" or "It's not easy to look for a job now"? Of course, if this is true, then "It's not easy to find a job now" becomes true by implication. I'm just trying to get the things a bit straighter and clearer in my head. Xièxie.
