Chinesepod technical problems aside, may I just say "more, more, more". This is my area of expertise and a job market I'm trying to break into after 10 years in China....I would love to have more technical jargon...upstage, downstage, stage left, stage right... produce/producer...direct/director...stage design, costume design, lighting design....auditions etc...etc...

How do you say pomegranite in Mandarin?

They are everywhere at the moment and I love them and I'd like to be able to get them with "laowai tax" excluded...
I love buying my veg and fruit from roadside vendors. It's a great way to practice speaking and I've found that the better you are at communicating, the lower the perentage of "tax" one ends up paying...
So once again, my question...

"How do you say pomegranite in Mandarin...?"

Perhaps I was a little harsh, but you know that sometimes it gets very frustrating learning this language and at the moment I just seem to be going through one of those phases where I don't seem to making any progress. I am just managing to keep up with the amount of Mandarin in these lessons as it is and find them very useful. To make them more complex is gonna put me out the running to gain anything from them.

With all due respect there are advanced lessons for those who need the challenge. It is my opinion that students at the elementary/intermediate level need more guidance.

I apologise to effie612 and the rest of the poddies. I did not intend to lower the tone of this conversation. I guess my frustrations just got the better of me :-(

I'm so terribly sorry that you have to endure our elementary utterances and grasp of this beautiful and challenging language.

This is supposed to be supportive learning environment and in such a forum there will always be those stronger or weaker than you are. As a teacher myself I always try to encourage those who know more to support those students with less aptitude or knowledge. One learns so much by being the benevolent teacher.

Perhaps, instead of making us who found this lesson challenging and useful feel like ignorant fools, your comment might have contained some insights, expansions and tips as to how to make this new knowledge stick.
