Something I have slowly started doing is breaking up my studies into different subjects. A part of what got me to UI is SRS, and I basically threw everything into one "big pot." That was great for a while, but then I found myself thinking, "I really need to touch up on medical terminology." Or, "I want to focus on math for the next week. Pi, hypotenuse, square roots...." Having specified categories for different subjects has been fun, and I foresee myself exploring the language more and more like this for years to come.

I am also working a lot on grammar. I am going through "A Practical Chinese Grammar" and like it a lot. Do any of you all have recommendations for good grammar books?

thanks! I've been wondering that for awhile....

one last related question: is the same always true for "一" as well? 

比如说：“第十一章” (will it change to fourth tone?)

还有，“一起” （I ask this because my dictionary seems to be inconsistent. It will have yi de yiqi marked with a first tone, while it denotes a tone change to 4th in 一生.... makes me wonder if there actually ARE instances in which yi or bu don't conform to the seemingly uniform rule!)

Question from the last sentence of the dialogue:

When 不要 is used in terms of "must not" or "don't" (rather than "don't want"), does 不 change to 2nd tone? Or does it remain 4th tone in this instance?
