As an American the word 'Hostel' always sounded strange to me, too close to the word 'Hostile' I think...

One thing I love about this site/service, it offers real off-beat lessons in Chinese! How do you say 'off-beat' in Chinese, something like 'qi-guai' maybe? Anyway, this site is priceless!

I think the chengyu to go with this thread is 'Chui mao qiu ci'...anybody know the hanzi to this?

I like Chinese and Japanese people, they take off their shoes before going into their own or someone else's place. Just have to make sure you don't were socks with holes in them. Most hosts have an extra pair of slippers though...
