October 26, 2010 at 1:22 PMThank you Jenny. It is nice to be welcomed! I hope to find a bit more time to study, and looking forward to listening to your constant high standard of lessons again. :-)

October 26, 2010 at 4:31 AMI enjoyed this lesson. Actually it is some time since I have managed to find the time to work an upper intermediate lesson.
How long do we think this young girl has stayed in each job? 4 or 5 jobs since graduating and still at home ...

October 22, 2010 at 4:35 PMWow, I have to totally disagree! I find the lack of 'h' in ch, sh, zh etc reduces the language to a constant hissing, which I find very unattractive and more difficult to understand. In my experience Guangdong ren also have n/l bu fen... Ni ci guo ma?

October 3, 2010 at 3:58 PMCan't find where to put suggestions for a Qing Wen topic (Actually these days I can't find anything!).
I imagine it is an Upper Intermediate level question though.
I keep finding new words for 'to establish'. Here are a few:
建立, 成立, 创建, 设立, 建成, 树立, 组建, 创办, 确立, 奠定, 创立, 立下, 创设, 建树
or simply:
建, 设, 立
Guidance please!

Absolutely right about being frightened at being laughed at. This seems to be a preoccupation of some Chinese women (in my small experience!). Is there a culture of laughing at people to put them down?

December 5, 2010 at 7:21 PMI used to make a mistake and use 可以 for 'maybe' when asked a question. It is only recently that I discovered that 可以 meaning is more like 'yes'. Got me into a lot of trouble!
