I downloaded an English version of QQ but couldn't register. In fact the error messages were in Chinese! I think it says 'sorry I am too busy'. Does anyone use QQ from the 'West' to talk to people in China? There is some stuff on chat rooms about it using a different server in China....

After 我一直用QQ she says 我也是 not 我也用. I am not clear when you do not have to use the original verb in the reply.

I liked this lesson but found it less challenging than many of the upper intermediate lessons. It feels more like an intermediate - short length of text, not so many new words ....

As far as I know all the advice about meeting the hosts (and the girlfriends family) is pitched for the 20 or maybe 30 year olds speaking to older people. What you call hosts if they are the same age as you or younger? What if you are the 50 or 60 year old?

I don't understand the 'Saved by the Gong' reference. I liked the description of characters in Chinese in the discussion - this seems a new trend, which I would like to encourage

I have separately met two Chinese people in England who have fairly recently come from Beijing (2 years and 4 years ago) who both have greated me with 你好吗? Perhaps they have picked up the English or maybe it is said in Beijing

How is the vocabulary chosen, and what is the significance of the supplementary words? Some (all?) of the supplementary words seem to appear in the dialogue. Possibly because this level is too hard for me, I didn't spot all of the words being used in the dialogue. What is the url of the website referred to?

Surely you can always get tea at the beginning of the meal? I didn't realise there was a cultural reason for not getting rice first - that was interesting.
