I didn't know that the character 血 can also be read xuě  .   How common is that reading ? I saw this reading listed in a couple of dictionaries, but I've never heard it before, which is why I'm curious.

So, this character 血 has 3 readings ? xiě , xuě and xuè

most Cantonese speakers suck at mandarin, and it bothers them when they meet non Chinese ppl who are better at mandarin

I also have a question about 唐人街/tang2 ren2 jie1  :

The last character means "street". Can there be a 唐人街 with multiple streets ?

I was actually really surprised to see that there is an alternate translation for San Francisco. Is the alternate translation only used in certain situations ? Is it used at all ?

okay, I just listened to this lesson again, and I know that you guys talked about the measure word chang3 at 4 minutes into the lesson, but I didn't hear anything about 平面

But I have to say, when people speak that way in English, it bugs me a little. Do Brits do that too? I don't mean that Brits speak English better than North Americans, I'm just less familiar with their accents
