January 10, 2012 at 1:54 PMThose directions sound familiar! The weather was nice, so I walked the last leg from station to office. If you have the time, it's a fun walk up through the park and along the canal to go the back way.

May 20, 2011 at 12:37 PMChinesepod/John war on cilantro continues :) Will we ever see an expansion sentence where someone asks to add more to his or her 牛肉面?

September 9, 2010 at 5:05 PMAnyone know if a jiāotōngkǎ has an expiration date (like NYC Metro Card)? I have one with about 30 left, but am not sure when I will be back in Shanghai.

September 7, 2010 at 4:29 PMI am guessing “不要加香菜” was John's contribution to the expansion section ;)

August 3, 2010 at 1:29 PMGlad that the JZS is back in action! I was unfortunately not able to get over to the Shanghai Literary Festival per your recommendation back in March, but streaming audio is no trouble at all.
I know from several of my music school alumni that Shanghai has a pretty hot and quickly growing live jazz scene. Any chance of Soulfire breaking through the no live broadcast barrier to pipe performances onto the airwaves?

July 8, 2010 at 1:20 PMUsed to sub in orchestras, back before I went to business school. I did nonprofit management for a youth orchestra, so it was pretty easy to freelance on the side. These days, the "real" job has crowded out all but a few one-off gigs. That, and CPod gets a dedicated 2 hour slot each day, but I'm not holding that against you :)

July 5, 2010 at 3:51 PMDan, where are you going to school? I did my BM in clarinet at Oberlin. Still playing, but my day job is in sustainability consulting. Wish I had had the forethought to do the double degree!

May 31, 2012 at 12:52 PMHa :) They picked me up in Renmin Guangchang. Right after I had just visited CPod and met John, no less! Good lessons in China street savvy aren't cheap, but aren't easily forgotten.
