October 7, 2011 at 11:02 AMThe grammar pattern is VERB + 过 + OBJECT + 了, so you should say 下过雨了. I find this splitting of the verb from its object quite difficult to wrap my head around. You'd also do the same to say "it started raining" - 下起雨来了. I'd really appreciate a QW on verb modifications like these!
