to Aoda,

and to speak about universities, my experience in Beijing is very different : dedicated teachers, schedules respected and real exams and so on, both for me BLCU 1 month only (unfortunately) and my son, 1 year at BLCU and 3 years at UIBC. I would even say that it's there that my (kind of lazy) son really started STUDIYNG in his life, and I'll be forever thankfull to his chinese teachers for that !

Great, sorry, fantastic lesson ! Thanks very much !

All I can tell you, whether Lei Feng is good or bad to be remembered, all Chinese just KNOW him and like him.

My son's Chinese friends and fellow students and all Chinese guests all recognised him at first sight (we had a poster of him well placed in the living room, while living in Beijing). He IS part of China, that's it.

and some Westerners DO know him and like him (but in fact, we have been in touch with China for over 25 years now)

那个老师容易
(That teacher's class isn't easy to understand.)

sorry, from the expansion, does this mean the subject being taught isn't easy, or the students are dum ?

Great lesson, as usual, but I am not sure if someone mentioned already that Mao Zhe Dong and his troops stayed in Yan An after the Long March.

not many things to add, just 1000 thanks to the team  ! and please, go on with the great job.

to ndhamer : no, Chinese is not a difficult language if you love it, it just needs lots of passion, and practice.  But it's also full of common sense and a huge sense of poetry / imagination.  If you have that all and DECIDE you have time to learn it, it's almost easy ... especially with such a great team as CPod !

Well, although I think you're doing an extremely good job, and many people do appreciate your hard work, I am probably a little bit "old fashined", and I like to listen and listen again to what I have heard already. Those old lessons disappearing, and the possibility to "get the free CD" while renewing my "not-until-July" access makes me feel I have to pay twice for the same thing ??

Hello Antoine, well, you have not lived or travelled to Asia if you have not heard about MSG : it's everywhere, also in shops (under Ajinomoto brand in the Philippines, for instance) .. but of course not mentioned on the menus .. Chinese restaurants also use MSG in Europe .. but I love chinese food so much ... preferably in Asia, of course .. Equivalent in French would be GlutamateMonoSodium, I guess, as this is a chemical term, or the brand commercialising it ... Thanks for all the great lessons, Ken, Jenny and all the team ; thanks for soooo useful comments, Changye and other CPoders ....

You're right, Huasen, we used to live in Beijing, and my son Seb liked very much The Tree (both former and new locations) and it was indeed reasonable ... After studying at UIBC, he is now in Sydney for further studies, and just recently went to "the" Belgian bar there, but, although he liked the (huge) place, didn't stay long : very expensive !! But he'll bring me there when I visit him in November .. Definitely, this podcast seems to be a favourite topic !! Thanks for the great job, John and the entire team !
