what would have made the dialogue more thrilling is if the hotel clerk sounded normal. Since they both sound like nutty people, it takes away from the mysteriousness of the man

I have a question. Why does the brother tell his sister “你抽空去看一下吧” ? 

What I'm wondering about is why he says 抽空 instead of 你有空。 I thought that 抽空 is used for "making time" to do something, and I also thought it's a bit more formal.
