October 6, 2010 at 10:50 AMI accidentally marked this lesson "studied" but didn't mean to. Now I can't figure out how to undo that action. Thanks if someone can help me!

May 28, 2010 at 11:22 PMI can understand skepticism about the Shanghainese lessons, but there's all that other material if one wants to avoid them. I myself (a paying customer) have actually enjoyed them quite a lot. I'm not trying to learn the language in these particular lessons, but feel that I profit from hearing it and making the comparison to Mandarin. It also contributes to understanding that most Chinese do have a mother tongue in addition to Mandarin. If I were heading back to visit Shanghai, I would pull these lessons back up and give it a real effort.

May 28, 2010 at 12:10 AMThanks, I appreciate your reply. Actually, I did mean 20. When I was a child growing up in Korea in the 60's we boiled big kettles of water for 20 minutes then poured it into a big barrel with a tap. Sounds like that was more than necessary, but it was what we believed was necessary at the time.

May 24, 2010 at 5:47 PMCurious when you mention boiling the water -- how long would you boil the water to consider it safe? I grew up with the standard that the water should be boiled 20 minutes. When I was in Xiamen in 2009, I got the impression from the housekeeping staff in the hotel that just to boil it briefly was enough -- a minute or less.

December 24, 2009 at 2:55 AMGreat fun! Thanks. We're howling over this video in front of the fire in the North Carolina mountains with snow outside.

August 23, 2009 at 6:51 PMI already use touchpad for Skritter on my old Powerbook G4. Maybe Leopard will improve functionality, but no need to wait for that as far as I can see.
So happy about Skritter/Cpod alliance!
