April 5, 2008 at 6:18 PM语means a kind a language as a noun or to speak as a verb, but now in modern chinese it is rarely used as a verb. 文means characters and others. Just as someone said, don't try to understand them character by character, especially when they are in a word group or in a phrase. 英语means a language----English 英文means english characters. For instance: 我正在学英语wo3 zheng4zai4xue2ying yu I'm learning English. 这是一本英文书.zhe4shi4yi4ben2ying1wen2shu1 This book is written in English.

April 3, 2008 at 3:45 AMrogbas In this scene, someone wandering if you have the ability to say chinese, they are interchangeable. But in some special scene,if someone have known that you can speak chinese and want you to chat in chinese,he may say ni keyi shuo han yu ma?Means "Please chat in chinese"in a indirect way. Mostly,ke yi means "would you....."or ask sb for help.In this scene,"ke yi" can't be insteaded by "hui" such as "would you speak in chinese?"ni ke yi shuo han yu ma? "would you give me a help?"ni ke yi bang wo yi xia ma? "May i borrow your pen?"wo ke yi jie ni de bi yong yi xia ma ?

April 1, 2008 at 8:28 PMThe philosophical meaning of 卧薪尝胆 is that someone bear the heavy pain and insult, make a good effort secretly in order to revenge himself on sb.Sometimes it simply means some one paid a lot and born a lot for a goal and finally accomplished it. There is a proverb"伯乐相马",no "伯乐试马".Searching all the words i have learned, i can't find a proper and usually used word to translate "talent scout".i'm sorry.
