June 22, 2009 at 1:15 PMI surveyed the meaning of 小姐 quite a bit here, in Changchun, and at the very least it raises eyebrows. The only time I have ever knowingly heard this term used was in the negative way, and that was a taxi driver who wanted to know if I was interested. In other words, I'm pretty sure it's a by-word for street girl, in dongbei.
