could a person who has a lower social status say 隨意 in response to a person who has the higher social status. For example, if a newly hired boss takes his/her new subordinates out to dinner , and the boss proposes a 干杯 to one of the higher-ranked subordinates, can that person respond with raising his/her cup and saying 隨意 ?

Also, could not following these customs really hurt people's rapport ? I mean if a person is being polite and nice, but doesn't want to drink too hard or too fast

Is it considered rude if a person says 干杯, and then you raise your glass and repeat 干杯, but not finish the entire cup? I didn't think this was considered a big deal, but now I'm thinking otherwise.

Is it bad if you plan on finishing the entire cup, but then realize you can't do it , and then say 隨意 after failing to finish the cup ?

If a Chinese person says 干杯, do I have to say 隨意right away , otherwise have to finish the whole thing ? And if I do say 隨意 will the other person get annoyed with me being so "隨意“?
