The first 2 translations are the same in meaning. But the third changes the meaning, and, I assume, can't be used for the given Chinese sentence because it implies that all but one of the group may be Chinese.
This is one of those little things in language that can drive you nuts!

June 28, 2011 at 4:37 PMIn Mandarin one gets words like this that seem to have no particular reason and just sort of round out the statement and give a nicer expression, e.g. hǎo. Perhaps that is what qū is doing here since Connie says qū sǐ is not a set phrase and you could leave qū out. A question I have is whether huí quó has to mean to return to the home country. Could it not also mean just to go back home?

July 1, 2011 at 2:06 PMSorry, but confusion has returned as I see in the last expansion of lesson #1243 that 'xiě de' has been put in the present tense as "You write really beautifully" whereas from what you seem to say here I would think this ought to be "You wrote really beautifully".
