I agree with you on the technical details, but i'm not really relying on Cpod to be the plumbing expert. It's great that they gave us the dialogue, and leave it to people with some more plumbing, engineering, construction backgrounds to pick up the slack.

In fact, I wish they would have gone further on the lesson, like explaining what the plumber was going to do to remove the valve, so we could have Chinese dialogue like, "get an hacksaw and saw it off, then solder a new valve on with an acetylene torch", regardless if its overkill or flat out wrong.

you learn something new everyday. I knew it likely meant slipperly floor, but didn't know what the dì was for. I thought it just meant map.

well, upon further reflection, I probably told you wrong. Not sure if you are using "black skinned people" as just another way to say "black people". But I have heard black people referred to as "hēirén". I don't know that Chinese bother with adding the part about the "skin".

on that first point, misunderstandings happen. I'm not clear on why cultural differences as the basis for misunderstanding are any more/less severe than misunderstandings between friends of the same backgrounds/cultures, or enemies of the same background/culture/family etc.

I think some Chinese say "hei1ren2" "bai2ren2". I don't know if Chinese ever refer to brown-skinned people.

I wonder that there aren't other gods of wealth out there. Maybe Navaho or something. I won't Google or Bing though.

tusconmichael, thanks for that. But now I wonder why Copia isn't the roman goddess of wealth.
