August 25, 2010 at 1:34 PMI'm curious about why Cpod is repeating much, if not all of the "The Jealous Friend", "Do you have a menu", "Ordering a Wine" and "Ordering a Steak" lessons in this particular lesson. There isn't anything really new in this lesson that hasn't already been repeated multiple times.

August 23, 2010 at 1:05 PMAny chance of redoing this lesson as an intermediate or upper intermediate for those of us wanting some non-big city dialogue?

August 18, 2010 at 3:53 PMyou'll regularly refer to the taxi drivers, bus drivers and other skilled workers as shifu. There have been multiple conversations about this on this site, but I can tell you I said xie xie shifu to the taxi driver, and he didn't punch me out. Shifu is definitely an accepted term, but not with your teachers or politicians or other likely college educated people.

August 3, 2010 at 5:09 AMdulei, count me in on learning your review method. Review is one of my many weaknesses, so i'm all for something that can help me review more words/phrases faster and more often.

August 3, 2010 at 1:23 AMHaving totally lucked out of having to do a thesis, I thought that a lesson on a thesis would have been a couple of thoughts around a specific hypothesis.
A casual google search shows that there is indeed a lot of research around migrant workers worldwide, but it appears that the basic assumption is that migrants have no free time. It would be interesting to know how much free time they actually have, and indeed what they do with it.
Good job cpod.

August 2, 2010 at 5:53 PMIt would be cool if it were memory, but it's really just that I was assigned the karaoke lesson. I'm not really into karaoke, but i've done it enough times (I think 5 times in my entire life). People always seem amazed that i'm willing to give "the first snow of 2002" a try.
I think we'd all have more luck with western music in lessons if John were a guitar player. :)

August 25, 2010 at 2:53 PMmaybe I should rephrase my question/comment to cpod to:
1. there are no new sentence patterns in this lesson that haven't already been taught with the others.
2. There is little to no new food or ordering vocabulary in the lesson that hasn't already been discussed in the other lessons.
3. how many more food lessons are in the queue if 100 food lessons aren't enough,
4. Can we have more focus onlessons on daily sights, activities or events like, construction cranes, sewer systems and other things that we see around big cities, that haven't already been discussed, or discussed seldomly?
5. If the argument for "reinforcing what we have already learned" is a valid one, then the other, less well attended topics deserve "reinforcement" as well. We need another at least 50 lessons around life in the village, another 50 lessons around construction, another 50 around suburban sprawl and related issues, and so on with other topics.
