It would be interesting to see if Ken Griffey Jr goes to Cooperstown, which team's uniform he would be wearing.

Ok, I tried creating a dialogue based on tgarran's suggested soccer terms, and ran that through the MDGB translator.  The resulting mess can be found here.  I already know there are plenty of errors, and unfortunately, there's no pinyin.  Maybe over time, I can try and fix this.  But at least I know the term for "corner kick" is correct: jiǎoqiú!

I couldn't agree more. It looks like we'll have to create soccer dialogue ourselves.

Chinasmack is just a lot of fun. All the screed, name calling, fingerpointing, gossiping... makes you realize how interesting China is, and how the culture is evolving. Plus, it's interesting that Chinese refer to to Kim Il-sung in other ways. I didn't even now they had a nickname for him.

yeah, everybody hates the Yankees with the fire of 10,000 suns. I'm going to have to remember that one.

Or maybe I should say that everybody who isn't a Yankees fan hates NY with the fire of 10,000 suns.

Whatever happened to Edgar Martinez anyway?

well, not giving up until the end is for sure what it's going to take from now on, with Ghana, the winner of Uruguay and Korea and .... Brazil.

It's funny, but if Brazil beats Portugal, it's going to put a third spin on the Brazil/North Korea game.

I take it nobody posting knows what Kaka means in Portuguese? It probably means something cool, although I just recently found out that Dunga's nickname means "dopey", so maybe not.
