February 4, 2008 at 11:25 PMi really dont pay attention to Tones yeah said individually i can hear the differance But when said in a sentence or phrase you dont hear them, Chinese people usually understand me & my friend says it sounds better when i say it fast, Not real slow the one word they usually dont understand is Shui - water, so i say qing gei wo yi bei shui hao ma & then they say oh water.

January 26, 2008 at 1:16 AMhere in America it can be rude or not, if a coworker asks im fine with that, some people do mind. if its a JOb interview then its understanable, but usually people ANYwhere will judge you by the car you drive or how you dress, no need to ask about income
