People have to learn to find answers for themselves in life and can't be spoonfed like children all the way. I think you're doing an excellent job and have certainly helped me although I still have a long way to go with pǔtōnghuà. Thanks a million for all your great work, especially with Jenny. I think you have both brought the best out of each other. I would never do you the injustice of expecting any of you to agree with everything I think or express. We don't want to be automatons here. Variety is the spice of life. We will all end up with our own unique way of doing things whether it's life, speaking English or Chinese, or whatever. I look forward to the day I may be able to visit your Chinesepod offices. It reminds me of a place in London called International House on Shaftesbury Ave. near Piccadilly. I'm sure there are differences but I feel it is imbued with the same spirit I found there. Carry on with your great work to help people bridge the gaps and walls of differences that unfortunately language and culture can sometimes create.

After travelling through terrible traffic, crowded, noisy streets, and/or horrendous parking facilities, one finally arrives at the "great location" where there are historic sights and famous names at your doorstep. But you can't eat scenery and sleep quietly with an all-night road race outside your window. Ergo, ease and kind of access becomes more paramount than what the quoted euphemism above denotes. That's why the word 'chūrù' seems more appropriate for connoting access rather than location.

'general' & the English for 'bù tong -tone?' near the very end of the discussion between Jenny & Ken? I was a bit lost in that last section and couldn't pick up many points though it was of high interest. Xièxie.

This isn't too far from the end of the dialogue. I have a rough idea what is going on but I don't quite get how this particular expression fits in. Xièxie.

July 31, 2011 at 6:39 PMJust a slight correction from yesterday. The language school I mentioned in London, International House, is actually in Piccadilly itself on Shaftesbury Ave. just a short walk up from Piccadilly Circus. Please excuse the small imprecision.
