How wonderful to hear your voice again having met you last week, Jenny. I learned the phrase 有人吗when entering the workshop of a shifu in Jingdezhen with a friend, useful for letting someone know you are looking for him or entering the establishment.

I arrived today in Shanghai. 天气非常好。 我要来看你们。我星期三去景德真工作。I would love to come and meet CP. Maybe we can do a show about ceramics and the upcoming Jingdezhen International Ceramics Fair and Exhibition.

If you are off for the week, I have one day through SH before I head back. I have not been able to reply to you through facebook.  Is it blocked? How do you get it?

Hey Mickeytoon, Babawardan,

talk about yin and yang... I also live in Cambridge. The one where we drive on the right side of the road. 哈哈。

I was in Jingdezhen for over a month this spring...porcelain capital of the universe. I have not been to Yingge, bit it is on the list. There were some interesting art and science ceramic applications in Korea's ceramic centers as well. But alas, they don't speak Chinese.

Thanks Changye for your advice.

I am a ceramic artist. When I was in China, I didn't want to say I was 艺术家 or 陶艺家,because it seemed not humble to call oneself a master. I am a professional of 30 + years. What is the best way to say this without seeming full of oneself, but still conveying professionalis?

I am writing about my recent time in Jingdezhen, but my friends there cannot seem to open this site. Please let me know if you can or cannot see this in the mainland. Is blogspot.com blocked?

Anybody interested in my blog Meizhonghua 美中话http://motzkinchina.blogspot.com

Young Chinese friends told me that boys in China think that foreigners are afraid of them because we believe they all know Gongfu. Maybe in Australia...

They also told me that they believe that all Americans have guns.

Before the pinyin spelling system was used, there was a commonly used transliteration from Britain called Wade-Giles. The pinyin x was hs, for example xing was hsing, differentiated from the sh sound. hsing, hsieh, hsu, etc. What is the sh sound in pinyin was sh in W-G as well. Linguistically, in making the sh sound the tongue slides up along the roof of the mouth, while the x sound the tongue is softer and flatter in the mouth. Siyi

Ken mentions that mu4 墓is not high frequency。 But what about the verb 扫 sao3. What combinations is it used in? For floor sweeping? (Mu4 uses the phonetic of my surname Mo莫) Thanks Siyi 思怡
